What can I offer you?

Please make sure to check out the About page for a bit of an insight into who I am, this is where you get to find out if what you are seeking for your big day matches with my position in the industry.

Hopefully as you start planning your big day you have an idea of the style you want the day to take and that the photography is going to be a big part of not only the day but as possibly the main record of your wedding for years to come. I would say that at least 50% of the couples who pick me to capture their day always say that they aren’t comfortable in front of the camera, all of which always look amazing in the photos that I edit usually due to the fact I shoot in a documentary way meaning I capture real moments as they happen and not posed shots.

Being chosen as the photographer for every wedding means a huge amount to me and whilst I like to have fun, crack the odd joke and enjoy the day as one of the guests I also realise the huge level of trust placed on my shoulders to do what I sell myself for, to capture the day and tell a story purely through my still images.

I’ve never been one to try and conform to fit into a category and for the past few years I’ve approached every wedding with my usual style of relaxed, informal and fun documentary photography but have embraced my love of film looking black and white images to develop my own style which sits between documentary and fine art. My approach is certainly as a documentary photographer capturing moments as the happen naturally but there are certain aspects of the wedding which deserve a little more control such as confetti, bride and groom portraits, a handful of group shots and the increasingly popular first look (where the bride and groom see each other before walking down the aisle, both looking their best and a perfect time for bride and groom shots which leaves more time for you to enjoy the drinks reception and hopefully have some canapés!

I would also describe my style as almost traditional but shot in a very forward thinking way, if you are seeking lots of group shots I’m not the right person for you (there are some truly amazing portrait photographers out there), I love to mix classic documentary with a more inspiring and elegant editorial style for the bride and groom portraits. I love to be creative in my approach to my work and if you have something particular you must have captured or wish to recreate I welcome the challenge.

The biggest question I get asked is how much do I charge for different packages. I as a rule do not offer packages but offer a digital service which I have priced to be extremely competitive. A general wedding day starts with the bridal preparation (hair, make-up, shoes, dress, flowers and of course champagne) and runs through the day until the first dance with a break for me during the wedding breakfast when I catch my breath and have a sit down. Everything is flexible though and as every wedding is unique I like to think that my unique approach and style allows for me to fit with your expectations. The most common mistake I come across is when people assume my fee is for a single day, for me the actual wedding day is the fun, it’s when I get home that the hard work starts converting the captured images into edited and processed files that tell the story of your big day and let you see things that happened in a split second, taking photos and applying a filter is one thing, a true photographer doesn’t think about the photography so much as reading people and being ready to capture the laughs, tears and smiles.

Alongside priding myself on my photographic skill and experience, I believe in being honest and trustworthy and as such work where I ask to be paid for my time, skill and experience in both making you feel at ease in the run up and during the wedding as well as producing something you will treasure for years to come. This allows me to offer my services at a set price of £1250 which covers photographic coverage from bridal preparation to first dance and the supply of digital high res images for personal reproduction and use on USB.

That said every wedding is unique so if you require something more intricate, or more simple please do enquire as I love working with couples who share my relaxed, fun and informal view to weddings and I will always aim to work to a budget.
